Advanced Information Technology Management

The Information Systems Management Concentration

Upon completion of the core, students complete the following three courses.

Term IV

Information Technology N4230. Telecommunications and network management.
An examination of the managerial skills required of telecommunications and network managers. Students acquire an in-depth knowledge of the techniques used to manage various LAN and WAN platforms. Emphasis is placed on the three factors critical to telecommunication and LAN management and support: processes, instruments, and human resources.

Information Technology N4232. Strategic planning for the IT department.
An examination of how organizations invest in new technologies to gain a competitive edge. Students learn how to improve core business performance through the implementation of information systems and the enhancement of communication between business management and information systems professionals. Students acquire first-hand experience with formulating and implementing an information systems strategic plan.

Term V

Information Technology N4234. Information systems policy, security, and risk management.
A study of the policies and procedures germane to the internal operation of an IT department. Emphasis is placed on securing computer systems; the principles of risk management and quality control, documentation requirements, standards design, and IT support systems.
