|  | Computer Technology and ApplicationsThe Preparatory CourseApplicants who have little or no computer experience, or who achieve a low 
  score on the CTA placement examination, may be accepted into the CTA Program 
  on a provisional basis and required to complete QC4105, Foundations 
  of Information Technology. Applicants to the program who lack hands-on experience with computers should 
  consider enrolling in QC4103, Business Applications Software. QC4105. Foundations of Information Technology
  Required for qualified students who lack the fundamental computer and information 
      technology knowledge required for first-term CTA courses.Designed to provide students with the basic knowledge in computer technology 
      and information systems prerequisite to all other courses in the program. 
      Provides a strong foundation for further study in all areas of information 
      technology and applications. Students asked to complete this course are expected to receive a grade 
      of B or better in order to continue with the program. Upon successful completion, 
      the student will be prepared for first-term courses in any of the CTA program 
      tracks. Students who complete QC4105 are advised to consult with their instructor 
      and with the Director of Information Technology Training Programs before 
      choosing their major track of study. May be taken as a single course or in combination with QC4103, Business 
      Applications Software.Does not count as one of the eight courses required for certification.Covers the following areas:

  A fast-paced hands-on laboratory course in Microsoft Office including Word, 
    Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. 
    
  Review of hardware and software basics and the Windows environment, and 
      hands-on business models in each application. The topics covered for each application range from fundamentals through 
      the intermediate level. Combining applications will also be introduced, e.g., linking a business 
      report in Word to spreadsheets and charts developed in Excel. One participant to a PC. Limited enrollment. Does not count as one of the eight courses required for certification.
