Database Application Development and Design (DADD)

Nearly every application today, from e-commerce Web sites to traditional corporate applications, have one key component--the database. Applications that interact with the database represent one of the prime assets of all strong businesses.

The Database Application Development and Design (DADD) track focuses on the challenges involved in designing, developing, and implementing these applications and their database systems.

Students entering this track are required to have a working knowledge of Windows NT, including:

  • Windows Explorer file management utility
  • basic DOS commands and configuration files
  • popular Windows applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

Students in the DADD track obtain a view of the complete software development life cycle, which transforms a set of business needs into a full, working database application using object-oriented and structured techniques for design and implementation.

Through lectures and extensive laboratory sessions, students implement database application solutions using leading-edge software development products and the Oracle Database Server.

Upon graduating from this track, students emerge with a strong skill set in the use of application development tools, languages (SQL, Java, and PL/SQL), and database design techniques.

Graduates of the DADD track hold positions as:

  • application developers
  • procedural database programmers
  • systems analysts
  • database administrators
  • database architects
