Computer Technology and Applications

No College or University Degree?

Candidates lacking at least an associate's degree or higher must apply to CTA Program II.

CTA Program II is identical to the CTA Program except for the admissions procedure and requirements.

Admissions Procedure

CTA Program II applicants follow the same procedure as CTA Program applicants, with one exception:

  • In lieu of undergraduate and graduate transcripts, applicants must submit at least one letter of recommendation from a current or recent employer attesting to the candidate's potential for successfully completing the program and advancing in the field.

Curricular Requirements

The CTA curriculum is rigorous and fast-paced. To help prepare those without a strong college background for the challenges ahead, CTA Program II applicants are additionally required to successfully complete QC4106, Managing the Academic Experience during their first term of study with the CTA Program.

An interview with a CTA administrator or faculty member may also be required.

QC4106. Managing the Academic Experience.

  • FIve 3-hour sessions.
  • May be taken concurrently with QC4105, Foundations of Information Technology and/or QC4103, Business Applications Software: The Microsoft Office
  • Tuition: $350 (includes all course materials)
  • combination of lectures, in-class discussions and exercises, and take-home assignments

The course covers a variety of topics, including:

  • written and spoken communication
  • time management
  • study skills
  • exam-taking strategies
  • project delivery and presentation

Students acquire techniques for:

  • setting priorities
  • completing assignments
  • using study materials
  • communicating effectively with instructors
  • developing efficient work habits

Course materials are tailored to reflect the kinds of assignments typically given by CTA instructors.
