Students continuing from the fall semester should plan to begin the spring semester on the first day of Freie Universität Berlin classes.

Saturday, March 3: Students must arrive at orientation hostel.

Saturday, March 3-Monday, March 5: Required orientation.

Sunday, March 4: Month-long stay with German host family begins.

Tuesday, March 6: Six-week German language practicum begins.

April

Wednesday, April 4: Month-long stay with German host family ends. Move into other housing.

Thursday, April 12: Six-week German language practicum ends.

Friday, April 13: Holiday. No classes.

Tuesday, April 17: Freie Universität Berlin classes begin.

May

Monday, May 1: Holiday. No classes.

Friday, May 12: Final selection of classes.

Thursday, May 24: Holiday. No classes.

June

Monday, June 4: Holiday. No classes.

July

Saturday, July 21: Freie Universität Berlin classes end.

Friday, July 27: All coursework must be completed and submitted by this date.

Fall 2001

September

Saturday, September 1: Students must arrive at orientation hotel.

Saturday, September 1–Monday, September 3: Required orientation.

Sunday, September 2: Month-long stay with German host family begins.

Tuesday, September 4: Six week German language practicum begins.

October

Tuesday, October 2: Month-long stay with German host family ends. Move into other housing.

Friday, October 12: Six week German language practicum ends.

Monday, October 15: Freie Universitat Berlin classes begin.

Wednesday, October 31: Final selection of classes.

November

Friday, November 23: Last day to file program of courses with the BCGS office.

December

Saturday, December 22: Christmas break begins. No classes.

January 2002

Monday, January 7: Classes resume.

February

Saturday, February 16: Freie Universitat Berlin classes end. Students have the option to remain in their dorm rooms.

March

Friday, March 1: All coursework must be completed and submitted by this date.

Monday, April 15: Freie Universitat Berlin classes begin.

May

Wednesday, May 1: Holiday. No classes.

Thursday, May 9: Holiday. No classes.

Monday, May 13: Final selection of classes.

Monday, May 20: Holiday. No classes.

July

Saturday, July 20: Freie Universitat Berlin classes end.

Tuesday, July 30: All coursework must be completed and submitted.
