Appendix B - Installing DS-Access to a non-default location

The DS-Access Setup Wizard offers a default installation path:

In Windows XP the default installation folder is:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\

In Windows Vista the default installation folder is:
C:\ProgramData\

If desired DS-Access can be installed to an alternative location. Clicking the 'Browse...' button next to the default path allows you to select the installation location of your choice. (You may need to consider user permissions on your workstation if you do not typically logon as an administrator.) All DS-Access files will be installed in the same folder, including the application file (dsdbms.mde) and the data file (dsdata.mdb). (For more information about all files installed by DS-Access see Installation Files.)

The Setup Wizard's default installation folder for both Windows Vista and Windows XP is shown below:
Note: Both 'Application Data' and 'ProgramData' are hidden folders, so you may need to change your Windows Explorer settings (Tools > Folder Options) to view these folders in Explorer.)

If you need to move DS-Access after it has been installed, please follow the directions for Moving DS-Access After Installation.
