    a laboratory course in experimental psychology  
    a course in statistics  
     one course in each of the following three basic areas of psychology: 
      social/personality/clinical
 cognition/perception
 psychobiology/neuroscience
 
    one advanced seminar in their proposed area of specialization: clinical/counseling psychology
 social-personality psychology
 cognition and decision making
 sensation and perception
 emotion
 developmental psychology
 psychophysiology
 cognitive and behavioral neuroscience

 PSYC 1001. The science of psychology. 3-4 points.
 
 One of the following laboratory courses (4 points total):
 
 PSYC 1420. Experimental psychology: human behavior. 4 points.
 PSYC 1440. Experimental psychology: learning and motivation. 4 points.
 PSYC 1490. Experimental psychology: thinking and decision making. 4 points.
 
 One of the following statistics courses (3 points total):
 
 STAT 1001. Introduction to statistical reasoning. 3 points.
 STAT 1111. Introduction to statistics, A. 3 points.
 STAT 1211. Introduction to statistics, B. 3 points.
 
One course from each of the following groups (in addition to the introductory 
    research design and statistics courses described above)
 Group 1 (3-4 points total)
 Perception and Cognition (any course in the 2200s, 3200s, or 4200s), PSYC 
    1420, PSYC 1490
 
 Group 2 (3-4 points total)
 Psychobiology and Neuroscience (any course in the 2400s, 3400s, or 4400s), 
    PSYC 1010, or PSYC 1440

 Social, Personality, and Abnormal Psychology (any course in the 2600s, 3600s, 
    or 4600s)
 One advanced seminar (3 points) 3000-, 4000-, or 6000-level courses
Two semesters of participation in supervised research (6 points) 
 The precise program of each student takes his or her background in psychology 
      into consideration.
 
 With the prior approval of the Program Director, up to two courses taken elsewhere 
    may be credited to the program requirements.
