Program Committee

Yair Cohen

Research Scientist, California Institute of Technology

Yair is a Senior Research Scientist in the Climate Modeling Alliance (CliMA) at the California Institute of technology. His research interests are the development of simplified, physically motivated, models for complex phenomena (such as atmospheric clouds) and the integration of various Bayesian approaches of machine learning to learn parametric functions that optimize these models. He received his Ph.D. at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Defu Cao

Ph.D. Student, University of Southern California

Defu Cao is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at the University of Southern California, working with Prof. Yan Liu. Cao is primarily interested in developing machine learning and data mining algorithms that demonstrate a deep understanding of the world with special structures, including time series, spatio-temporal data, and relational data. To this end, his research aims to integrate causal inference, spectral domain representation, interpretability, and robustness. Prior, he earned his M.Sc. at the school of EECS Peking University.
