5.4.3.2  Create / Delete Derivatives

At the bottom of the form on which the URL patterns are entered, there are two buttons, the first to Create / Delete Derivatives and the second to Generate Derivative URLs.

Click on the first one, and this will be the result:

You can choose to create (or delete) derivatives on a size-by-size basis, or to do this for all images at once.  Since it's anything but a fast action, you'd do well to choose each single size successively.  If you choose to create all derivatives all at once, you might as well go milk the cow in the meantime, it will take that long.

Remember that "creating a derivative" really means that you're creating the space for that derivative's URL to occupy.  LINK

It's obvious why a person would want to "create derivatives," but when would it be useful to delete them / some of them?  Perhaps your institution has moved one size of derivatives to a new server so that you need to establish new URL patterns.  It might make sense to delete the old pattern first.

With either action, DS-Access will report back to tell you precisely how many derivatives were created or deleted, and then it will tell you that it has accomplished its mission.
