DS-Access Version 9 Metadata Schema

The bibliographic data is collected in a 7-level system with potential 1-to-many relationships as one descends the hierarchy: an institution may have multiple repositories; a repository will contain multiple manuscripts; one manuscript may have several parts; each part may have several texts; each text may have several images; and each image will be displayed in four derivative sizes.

The primary metadata is stored in the Manuscripts, Parts, Texts, and Images tables:

The seven core metadata tables are show in this screenshot of the relationships window in the DS-Access data file (dsdata.mdb).

For detailed information about the fields in these tables, see the Data Dictionary

Additional support tables (not shown) include Scripts, Subjects, and Dates, along with various settings and configuration tables.
