Changing an instance

Use the Change Instance window to change the information for an instance. The node directory is updated with the new information.

Before you begin...

To change an instance:

1. Open the Change Instance window.

2. Optional: Change the Remote instance if required.

3. Optional: Change the Instance name if required.

4. Select the new protocol for the instance. For a local system, Local is automatically selected and is the only valid protocol. The possible protocols are:
   • APPC
   • IPX/SPX
   • NetBIOS
   • TCP/IP
   • Named pipe (Windows NT and Windows 95 only)

   Note:

   Only the protocols that the computer is currently setup for appear in the listbox.

5. Enter the appropriate Protocol parameters.

6. Optional: Enter a comment to be associated with the instance.

7. Select OK to change the instance in the node directory.
