Modifying containers

Use the Containers page of the Create Database from Backup notebook to specify that you want to modify containers during the create database operation.

Before you begin...

To modify containers:

1. Open the Create from Backup notebook.

2. On the Description page:

   1. Type the name of the database that you want to create in the New database name field.

   2. Type the drive on which the database is to reside in the Default drive field. (For UNIX-based systems, this field is called Default directory.)

   3. Type an alias for the database in the Alias field.

   4. Type a comment for the database in the Comment field.

3. On the Backup Image page, click on the Select push button to locate a database for which you have already created a backup.

4. On the Backup Image page, specify the backup image that you want to use to restore the database:

   • To use one of the backup images that are displayed, click on Select an entry from the list, then select the backup image that you want to use.

     If you have already created a backup image of the database from this administrative client, Select an entry from the list is preselected because the recovery history file for the database indicates that a backup image is available.

     If you know that the media type that is displayed for the backup image is not correct, then use the fields that are displayed under Change the media information if necessary to specify the correct media type for the backup image.

   • To use a backup image that is not displayed, click on Manually enter the backup image information. Use the fields that are displayed with Manually enter the backup information to specify the backup image that you want to use.

     If you have not already created a backup image of the database from this administrative client, Manually enter the backup image information is preselected because the recovery history file for the database does not contain any backup history for the database.

5. On the Containers page, click on Redirect table space containers, then click on one or more of the following to specify the type of container modification that you want to perform during roll-forward recovery:

   • Add to create a new container

   • Change to change the path of a selected container

   • Remove to remove a selected container.

6. On the Roll-Forward page, clear the Leave in roll-forward pending state check box. This makes the database usable immediately after the create operation. (By default, this button is on).

7. Click on OK to create the database.
