Not creditable toward a degree. Introduction to the practices of editing,
copyediting, and proofreading. These basic skills and techniques, used by professionals
in publishing, are essential for producing good writing in any arena. Attention
to the use of a grammar handbook and a manual of style, the distinction between
editing and copyediting, and symbols for proofreading. Detail-oriented exercises,
conferences, and workshops on students own writing. Some discussion of
the publishing industry.
