Japanese

Language Courses are not open to auditors.

The dialect taught is that of Tokyo.

These intensive language courses are identical in all respects to the courses offered during the regular school year, except that the extra number of class hours each week allows for coverage of the material. In all elementary-level language courses, equal attention is given to speaking, writing, and reading. Due to the intensive nature of the courses, it is not advisable to enroll in any other summer course.

Students must present a receipt for the materials fee, which covers the cost of supplements to the textbook, at the first class meeting.

  • completion of homework assignments
  • any other course requirements.

Noncredit students who fail to meet these requirements may be asked to leave the course.

Under no circumstance are these courses convertible to credit, except payment in full for the credit option before the designated last day to exercise the pass/fail option.

No qualitative grade(s) are assigned or recorded. Students are assigned the mark of R (registration) for the courses they complete; a University transcript bearing that mark may be issued at the student's request.

Call numbers for these courses (needed for registration) will be available after April 3.
