Introduction to Tagalog with an emphasis on mastering basic skills and working vocabulary. Linguistic rules will be applied to enable the student to communicate with more competence. Lessons will incorporate discussions on history, current events, literature, pop culture, and native values. Because language is key to connecting with community concerns, the course will also include field trips to Filipino neighborhoods in Queens and Jersey City.
