NOTE: These are all monochromatic patterns although on some browsers they sometimes appear tinted.

Opposite-sign-of-contrast member of series in top panel.

One-element-only member of series in middle panel.

Same-sign-of-contrast member of series in bottom panel.

Warning. These patterns will probably not appear on your screen with veridical luminances. In the actual stimuli, the difference between the contrasts of the two element types is the same in all members of a series.

These show the stimuli which were viewed at a distance that made the spatial frequency of each grating element be 3c/deg. Those with 12 c/deg elements had four times as many cycles per patch as shown here. (The windows of each patch, and their spacing. remained the same as shown here.)
