My name is Zack Coil.  I am most recently from San Francisco , California , and I graduated with a BA in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz in 2000.  For the past five years I have alternated between working with disadvantaged, emotionally-disturbed children and seeing the world.  My travels have taken me through parts of Europe and much of Central and South America .  Both my experiences abroad and working in urban communities have instilled in me a passion for addressing social and economic inequalities on a local and global scale.  I am deeply committed to fighting racism, eradicating homophobia, providing high-quality education, promoting gender equality, and ensuring the health and mental health needs of all the world's citizens.  I feel that, as students, we are entitled to a strong voice in the decisions and policies that affect our experience here at Columbia .  I would strive to understand all student concerns ensure that they were adequately responded to , and disseminate information to students.  Thank you for your consideration.
