OVERVIEW
MFHD records may contain different types of 014 fields.
NOTIS-born records have two 014 fields:
014 $a ARJ8900CU001 (NOTIS ID, processing unit and copy statement
number)
014 $9 003857593 (Voyager migration linking number)
Voyager born recon records from OCLC have an 014 with the OCLC ID number
added as part of the batch import process.
014 $a ocm04057763
Voyager bound-withs use the 014 field to link titles within the
bound-with:
014 $a 458629
014 $a 458631
Record sets from vendors use the 014 for linking bib and holdings records.
014 $9 ssj0001660 (a Serials Solutions e-journal)
014 $9 004394405 (A NetLibrary e-book)
PROCEDURE
014 with Voyager migration linking number--Delete in all cases as the
$9 is not in the tag table.
014 with NOTIS or OCLC ID--Delete if you are also updating the
leader and 008 fields. If the leader and 008 fields are not being updated, keep
the 014 field in the record as an indication that the fields have not been
updated.
If the OCLC ID is retained, the first indicator in 014 will need to be
coded 1. The second indicator in 852 will also need to be supplied.
014 fields for for linking titles within a bound-with--Do not delete
these 014 fields.
014 fields on vendor supplied records--Do not perform any record
maintenance on vendor supplied records.
