OPTIONAL PRACTICAL TRAINING DATA VALIDATION

The Department of Homeland Security is conducting an audit to ensure the accuracy of certain information in SEVIS for all students who currently have authorization for optional practical training following completion of their course of study.

To comply with OPT audit requirements, the ISSO is required to enter your current employer’s name and address. As long as you are actively searching for employment, there is no penalty for being unemployed for those whose OPT was approved before April 8, 2008.

Reporting of current employment, employer's address, any change of employer or employment address, or any periods of unemployment is an on-going requirement.
