You can setup IPX/SPX support for two different types of addressing,
depending on the DB2 server that you run:
The NetWare information that you need is as follows:
- For Direct Addressing, you need only the socket number. Type or
select the socket number that is used for this server instance in the
Socket number box. The Internetwork address field
displays the address that must be used by a client system to connect to this
server. For example:
09212700.400011527745.879E
- For File Server Addressing, you need the file server, object name, socket
number, NetWare user ID and password.
- Type or select the socket number that is used for this server instance in
the Socket number box.
- Select the Register with file server check box.
- Type the name of the file server in the File server
field.
- Type the object name in the Object name field.
- Type the NetWare user ID, that will be used to register the object name on
the NetWare file server, in the NetWare user ID field.
- Type the NetWare user ID's password in the NetWare
password field.
| Note: | The file server and object name parameters must be entered in upper
case. The following characters are not valid for the file server and
object name parameters: /\:;,*?

The following is a brief description of the items you might need.
- File server
- Specifies the name of the NetWare file server where the internetwork
address of the database manager will be registered.
The internetwork address of the database manager is stored in the bindery
at the NetWare file server.
- Object name
- Represents a particular database manager in the network, and should be
unique for each DB2 server instance registered at a NetWare file
server.
- Socket number
- Specifies a well-known static socket number and represents the connection
endpoint in a DB2 server's internetwork address. It must be
entered in hexadecimal.
The socket number defaults to 0x879E (change this value if running more
than 1 DB2 server instance). DB2 has registered well-known sockets with
Novell in the range 0x879E to 0x87A1 for the customer's use.
The socket number (ipx_socket) must be unique for every DB2 server
instance on a machine. It must also be unique among all IPX/SPX
applications running on the DB2 server machine to ensure that the DB2 server
is able to listen to incoming IPX/SPX connections using this socket
number.
- NetWare user ID
- The user ID that is used to register the DB2 object name at a NetWare file
server must have supervisory or equivalent authority.
