Leaving the database or database partition in the roll-forward pending state

Use the Roll-Forward page of the restore notebook to specify that, at the end of the restore operation, you want to leave the database or database partition in the roll-forward pending state.
Note: Graphic denoting partitioned database environments appears here. In a partitioned database environment, you restore at the database partition level.

To leave the database or database partition in the roll-forward pending state:

  1. Open the restore notebook:

  2. On the Backup Image page, specify the backup image that you want to use for the restore operation:

  3. To leave the database or database partition in the roll-forward pending state, ensure that the Leave in roll-forward pending state check box is selected.
    Note:A database or database partition in the roll-forward pending state cannot be used. To turn the roll-forward pending state off and make the database or database partition usable, you can:

    • Perform roll-forward recovery on it. You can perform roll-forward recovery on the database from either the Roll-Forward page of the Restore Database notebook, or from the Roll-Forward Database notebook.

    • Graphic denoting single-partition database environments appears here. For a single-partition database, select Stop Roll-Forward from the pop-up menu for the database.

    • Graphic denoting partitioned database environments appears here. For a partitioned database:

      1. Open the Database Partitions window.

      2. Select the database partition that you want.

      3. Select Database Partitions->Stop roll-forward.

  4. Click on OK to begin the restore operation.
