This collection of associated fields specifies the type
of backup that you want to take, and the available options for that type of
backup. Specify the type of backup image to take in the Media
Type box, and the associated fields will change. The choices are
as follows:
- Specify directories or Tapes (for NT and UNIX--based systems; Specify
directories for OS/2 system)
- Specifies to write the backup image to either a directory or to
tape. Specify the correct path or paths for the backup image in the
Specify directories box.
You can select more than one path for the backup to back up the table space
or table space partition to more than one
location. In this situation, the resulting backup image will be spread
across multiple locations, and all the images will have the same time
stamp.
To see the list of available directories and tape devices, click
on Browse.
- ADSM
- Specifies that the backup image is to be handled by the ADSM
server. Use the Sessions field to specify the number of ADSM
sessions that you want. To reset the number of sessions to the default
value (1), click on Default.
- Vendor DLL
- Specifies that the backup image is written by a vendor DLL. Specify
the DLL name in the DLL field, and use the Sessions
field to specify the number of DLL sessions that you want. To reset the
number of sessions to the default value (1), click on
Default.
To select a DLL from your disk, click on
Browse.
- User Exit (OS/2 system only)
- Specifies that the backup image is written by a user exit. No other
information is required.
When you specify this option, the user exit that is bound to the database
is called. For more information about creating and using user exit
programs,
see
the Administration Guide.
