| Course Description | This course explores how generative AI (GAI) can be applied in the social sciences. After an introduction to large language models and multimodal architectures, students will learn how to use these models at various stages of the research process. Topics include using GAI for classification, synthetic data generation, tailored experimental designs, adaptive surveys, and prediction. Emphasis is placed on technical implementation and research design considerations, including prompt construction, validation, integrating model outputs into surveys, and replication. The course also covers retrieval systems and research agents. |
