| Course Description | Prerequisites: the instructors permission. This course examines recent research and classic texts on the role of ethnic groups in political analysis. The class addresses three broad questions: what are ethnic groups, when do they become politically salient, and how does ethnic competition affect the distribution of resources in a society. Many of the readings utilize econometric methods. A statistical background at the level of W4710 is assumed, with familiarity through W4712 strongly recommended. |
